This Terracotta peice is kiln fired to cone 04 bisque, burnished to a smooth finish and patina, and mounted on a black walnut and oak pedestal. It is a freestanding piece that can be rotated to display both front and back.
Incorporated as the core of the artifact is the torus shape which conveys an asymmetrical but harmonious composition that draws the viewer into a contemplative meditation.
Terracotta Torus
My work as an artist draws me to explore the tension that exists in nature: the frozen elements in stone, bone or mineral, the gnarled elegance and seeming chaos of root or tree. The Torus is one of the resulting shapes that embody the clash of forces that are the shapers of natural sculpture.
